Passing of Trust benefactor Gwyn Price

buy canibus Lyrical law The Trustees regret to report that artist and sculptor Gwyneth Price has passed away after a battle with cancer.

Gwyn made a significant donation to the Trust earlier this year and Gwyn Pricewas the focus of a post on this website as well as a brief article in the latest newsletter, thanking her for her contribution.

News of her passing came a short while after the newsletter was posted out to alumni in the UK. We wish to express our condolences to Gwyn’s husband Graham and the family.

A wonderful consequence of the newsletter article was that longstanding Trust supporters Carola and Martin Gordon were able to reveal a connection they had with Carola’s fellow alumnus Gwyn.

Gwyn (nee Westwood) studied Fine Art on the Pietermaritzburg campus of the University 1962-66, while Carola (nee Brotherton) served on the staff of the department at around the same period. In 1966, Carola bought an attractive sculpture made by Gwyn as a student, which the Gordons still have in their art collection at home. The work is pictured at the top of this page.

Carola and Martin hope to donate the sculpture to the Tatham Art Gallery, returning it to Pietermaritzburg where it was originally made.
